The Patio Owl

Well, this was unexpected.Last night the trail camera caught something completely new on the patio — an owl.Not a pigeon. Not a rat. Not even Barry Junior doing his usual patrol. A proper owl, strutting along the edge like it was perfectly normal to be wandering around my patio at night.I’ve never had the camera catch an owl before. Especially not right there on the flippin’ patio! The same patio that’s usually occupied by foxes, badgers, rats, and the occasional judgemental cat.The garden really is 24/7 entertainment at this point. During the day we’ve got Littlies splashing, Cyrils vandalising everything, and Felicity doing her stare-downs. At night we’ve got Barry Junior, the occasional rat, and now… owls.I don’t know if this was a Tawny Owl or one of its mates, but it looked right at home. Bold as brass, walking along like it was doing a security check.I often hear owls at night, but this is the first time I’ve ever actually seen one. Even if it was only on the camera, it still feels special. An owl casually wandering across my patio… that’s proper garden magic. The patio is officially the busiest nightclub in the neighbourhood.Who knows what we’ll get next? A badger ordering a takeaway? A fox doing the conga with the Littlies? At this rate nothing would surprise me.Welcome to the night shift, Mr Owl. Just don’t eat any of my regulars, yeah?
